Roots and Wings welcomed its first intern Melanie Swallow in March 2024!
Melanie is doing her master’s in Education and Child Studies program at Leiden University and currently writing her thesis which focuses on how biracial children develop their identity, and their parents’ role in their racial socialization. Being from Canada, she says she still prefers snow to rain even after living in the Netherlands for 5 years now. 😊
Melanie’s knowledge on identity development and biracial children will be extremely valuable for the families we support here in Eindhoven. I am thrilled to have Melanie join the team and looking forward to our collaboration and all that she will accomplish during her internship here!
